Sun shining on the glacier
The urban sprawl
Luckily that isn’t the road in the distance
Avalanche protection over the road means its not all mountain views
Early mornings means riding in the shade till the sun gets above the high valley walls
Starting in Chamonix France the first stage route goes into Switzerland over the col d’Forclaz and after an amazing descent on a quiet back road you are then climbing towards Champex le’lac. Still in Switzerland it is a beautiful descent and then up an onto the highest point of the route, the impressive col du Petit St Bernard. Not for the faint hearted this 35km climb is gradual but has a kick towards the end that has an inspiring viewpoint where one way you look down to Switzerland and the other way into Italy. A stunning 35km descent down to Aosta awaits before a gradual climb up towards the finish into the spa town of Pre’ Saint Didier with its stunning views of Mont Blanc.
