Descending you are a small spec in a big landscape
After 2 days hairpins will be second nature
Heading back to Chamonix and the finish line
Day 2 starts off with a climb right from the word go right out of the hotel onto the col d’Petit St Bernard. A stunning climb that takes you up and out of Italy back into France. The long descent down into Bourg St Maurice is a welcome respite from the following climb up to Cormet de Roseland which gives amazing views down towards the penultimate valley and climb. The sweet descent down to the valley floor takes you past the pastures where the famous Beaufort Cheese is produced before heading up an on towards Hauteluce and Les Saisies. From here that is a major climbing over. Or so the map says, but after a descent down to St Gervais there is the small but not to be underestimated Vaudagne climb back into the finish line at Chamonix. The last 5km of flat road into town allows you to reflect on what has been an amazing two days in three countries with countless different landscapes and views.
